Kansas Historic Route 66 Byway Receives State Designation
Topeka, Kan. (November 29, 2011) - The Kansas portion of the original Route 66, located in Cherokee County, has been designated as a Kansas Historic Byway.  With this addition, Route 66 becomes the eleventh Kansas byway to receive official designation from the Kansas Department of Transportation. [more...


Kansas Byway Designation Change
Topeka, Kan. (November 1, 2011) - Kansas’ Frontier Military Scenic Byway was re-designated as a historic byway recently to better reflect what visitors will find while traveling this Eastern Kansas byway. Kansas Byways Receive Grant
Topeka, Kan. (May 3, 2011) – The Kansas Byways program has been awarded a $220,000 grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to assist local byway committees with telling their stories. The grant is part of the FHWA’s National Scenic Byways Program, which recognizes and provides funding for roads designated either locally or nationally as having outstanding scenic, historic, cultural, natural, recreational and archaeological qualities.    more...

Western Vistas Historic Byway First Historic Designation in Kansas
Topeka, Kan. (July 20, 2010) – Logan, Scott and Wallace counties are home to the Western Vistas Historic Byway, the first designated historic byway in the state and the tenth Kansas byway to receive official designation from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
